The author of this book is a Namibian, born in 1979 at Mamono Royal Village, near the Nyangana Roman Catholic Mission Station. While attending to his formal primary education, he also received traditional education in the form of herding livestock, milking cows, crop farming, shing, hunting, making traditional huts, rowing canoes [mawato] etc.

Shampapi Shiremo qualified as a teacher from the University of Namibia in 2003. Between 2003 and 2006, he taught at Rundu and Linus Shashipapo Senior Secondary Schools. In 2009, he obtained a Master’s Degree of Arts in History from the University of Namibia and in 2013, a Bachelor’s Degree in Law [B.juris]. Between 2009 and 2010, Shampapi Shiremo worked at the National Archives of Namibia as a Project Ocer for the Archives of Anti-Colonial Resistance and the Liberation Struggle-Project.

Shampapi Shiremo is a passionate historian who loves researching, reading and writing on subject-matters relating to history. Inter alia, he has published on the Vagciriku-Lishora Massacre of 1894 and the Resistance of Kavango traditional leaders in 1903 against the German colonial government and its agents. He is also an author of a Rumanyo novel entitled Mfudu Urodi. This title Vamama’s History and Heritage are a book series that is intended to be published at least once annually as part of the author’s contribution to educate the Namibian masses on their own past and culture. It is also intended to publicize the history from the Kavango regions to a larger readership in Namibia and abroad.
